Weddings & Reaffirmation of Marriage Vows

Requests for weddings and the reaffirmation of marriage vows are open to all. Times and dates must be set not only for the ceremony itself but also for an appointment with the Kahu, Wedding Facilitator, and a rehearsal.

Times and dates set according to availability.

There is a wedding fee of $650.  The fee covers the services provided by the Kahu, the help provided by the wedding facilitator, organist, janitor and the use of the sanctuary and grounds of the church.

The fee for weddings and reaffirmation of marriage vows performed off-grounds is $200.  The fee covers the services and expenses of the Kahu, and payment should be made directly to the Kahu.

In order to reserve the time and date for a ceremony, a deposit of $200 must be made at least 90 days prior to he wedding itself.  The balance is due 30 days before the wedding ceremony.

The deposit will be refunded if a cancellation notice is received 30 days of the scheduled date.

The visit with the Pastor and wedding facilitator is required.

Information sheets are provided to all who make an inquire.  The sheets include the names of contact persons, policies and procedures, etc.

There is also information on how to set an appointment for a marriage license and certificate.

Those making inquires are reminded to begin planning at least nine to twelve months ahead of time.

Baptisms

The Sacrament of Baptism is open to General Members and Associate Members as well as friends and visitors.   The sacrament is usually celebrated on the third Sunday of each month at our 10:30 am service of worship.

Requests may be made for infant baptisms.  In such instances parents are required to make an appointment with the Kahu.  The visit will provide an opportunity to discuss the significance of the baptism and to go over t he details of baptism.

Requests made for adult baptisms require that the candidate also schedule an appointment with the Kahu.

Because of the history and cultural tradition of the church, baptisms are usually by sprinkling.

There is no fee, but a donation is encouraged.

Blessings

Requests may be made for public and private blessings for homes, businesses and special events.  Blessings are also offered for boats as well as other vehicles and for situations that are of particular concern to individuals or families.

The blessing of homes and businesses requires that the family or business associates provide a maile lei for the blessing.  Blessings for ground breaking ceremonies require that the person or persons making the request provide a shovel or shovels and whenever possible an o'o or turning stick.

All blessings are done in a "Hawaiian style" with the use of Hawaiian symbols.

There is a fee of $200 for business blessings and groundbreaking and $100 for house blessings.  Checks should be made out to Rev. Richard K. Kamanu.

Memorial Services & Funerals

Requests for memorial services or funerals are granted to General Members and Associate Members as well as friends and visitors.  Inquiries may be directed to the church office by telephone, fax or email.
